HOW WE LOOK AFTER YOUR PET

An appointment isn’t necessary but we recommend calling so our team know how to help your pet when you arrive.

When you arrive, our nurse will assess the urgency of your pet’s condition. Just like a human emergency hospital, the patients with the most life-threatening injuries or illness are seen first.

A vet will examine your pet and provide you with advice about test and treatment options. We will discuss expected costs at this time.

If your pet is hospitalised, you will receive (at least) 2 updates every 12 hours from the vet on duty, as well as a photo of your pet every 24 hours. You’re also welcome to call the clinic if you would like additional nurse updates or would like to visit your pet.

At discharge, your veterinary team will explain any ongoing care with you and help you finalise the invoice. We will provide you with discharge instructions and send a full medical record to your vet, to enable ongoing care.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should my pet see a vet?

You know your pet better than anyone, so if you’re worried enough to call, then it’s probably best to bring them in. Some conditions that require urgent veterinary attention include:

    • Allergic reactions
    • Abdominal bloating
    • Breathing difficulties
    • Collapse or paralysis
    • Eating a foreign object
    • Toxin access
    • Trauma
Should I call before I visit?

As an emergency clinic, we don’t have appointments, but there are benefits to calling before you visit. If you do call, our nurse can:

      • discuss your concerns and confirm whether your pet needs to see a vet
      • prepare for your pet’s visit, particularly if their condition is life threatening
      • tell you how busy we are and plan your visit to reduce your waiting time
      How much is a consult?

An emergency consult is $196. This includes a physical examination of your pet and advice on testing and treatment options, specific to your pet’s needs.

      When are fees payable?

If your pet has a consult but is not admitted to hospital, all invoiced fees are payable upon completion of the consult. If your pet has a consult and is then admitted to hospital, 50% of the treatment plan estimate is payable upfront, with the remaining invoiced fees payable at discharge.

What payment options do I have?

We accept several payment options including cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa and American Express. We understand that in an emergency you may not have funds available at short notice so for your peace of mind we also accept VetPay and Afterpay.  If your pet is covered by pet insurance, we will work with you to complete all the necessary paperwork so that your insurance company can reimburse you.
